The Washington Association of Diabetes Educators, WADE, is a chapter of the American Association of Diabetes Educators serving the State of Washington and some surrounding areas. We are a not for profit organization, all volunteer organization, made up of group of professional diabetes educators. WADE elects its officers annually and has no paid staff. Messages on WADE 's phone line are picked up by a volunteer 1-2 times per week. WADE accomplishes its goals by primarily working in committees. WADE volunteers have many accomplishments, especially by way of our newsletter, our annual meeting, membership and our legislative efforts WADE’s 2010 Goals Continued support of the webpage, including improvement of updates, increasing Tool Chest content, and investigating its use for online continuing education options. Work towards establishing an educational course for entry level CDE test preparation and training to be done by WADE by 2013 with this year’s focus on obtaining background information, evaluating current curricula models, and examining the university involvement/requirement. Increase CE offerings for members via phone, internet, or other novel medias. Complete the requirements for the AADE Incentive Program for chapters including the addition of a WADE membership option to AADE’s website, submission of Chapter Strategic Plan and Chapter by-laws. Quarterly membership needs survey to the membership, with use of electronic means and questions designed to obtain timely feedback and information for the use of the board and its guidance of WADE for the members.
