Letter from scholarship winnerDear Caroline and members of the WADE annual scholarship committee,
Thank you very much for giving me a scholarship to attend the 2008 WADE conference. The conference was informative and fun.
I have a better understanding of Renal disease, Celiac disease, Gestational diabetes, and all the medications we use for diabetes as a result of attending the conference. I particularly liked the presentation by Cindy Brinn; she is a very engaging and credible speaker. I did not have a clear understanding of vitamin D prior to the conference. I have had questions from patients for which I had no clear answers. Cindy has given me the tools to help answer and educate my patients in regards to how vitamin D impacts our bodies, and specifically people with diabetes.
Prandial Percolations by Jennifer Beach was packed with practical, evidenced based, real world tips to help me every day.
Nathan Bartels talk was sweet, inspirational, and encouraging to me as a diabetes educator.
I always struggle with keeping my work space and diabetes supplies organized and functional. Finding the VMMC 5S Levels of Achievement chart was a treat!! It tells me others also struggle with organization, and some wonderfully organized people have developed a system to make things more manageable.
I hope to attend the conference in Spokane next year. I would like to offer any help you need.
